It's shared with Southern Miss QB Nick Mullens, but when you look at the fact that Byrd has the most yards of any Running Back in CUSA, I think he should have been the sole award recipient.

Mike Marshall became the first player to block two punts in school history. North Texas leads the nation in punts blocked, BTW.

When a QB throws for 370yds & 6 TD's (5 passing) AND his team got their first win in 2 years, I think he deserves the nod. Even with Byrd's dominating day, I didn't think he would get it over Mullens, so sharing with him is a good thing!

The opponent was UAB, who is one of the worst teams out there. Their best games defensively were against FIU & MTSU where they only allowed 24 points. They have allowed on average 44 points a game.

Well, we did play Tulsa who isn't lighting the world on fire.

I think Tulsa would whip UAB, but I think they gave Mullens the award not only for his numbers, but for the fact that his team actually won a game.

      I can't blame them, the system in place allows them to profit and to move freely. We may not like it, but it's the system. I'm hoping schools taking over the collectives, it's already happening for reasons I stated above, will usher in contracts and buy outs for players. We've opened Pandora's box so we aren't going back to amateur sports, the best we can get out of it is payment on our investments.

      Agree, there was some semblance of programs doing the right thing and following the rules even though they were always getting busted for violations, and everyone knew cheating was going on. It's why I was saying the veil is off now, and making everyone play by those rules has supercharged the whole thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the schools aren't supposed to work with NIL collectives to get players right? But everyone including UNT is 100% working with these collectives to send out deals to players. Same kind of fake rule following like we used to have, just more of it now.

      I’m not the type who’s going to say, “I’m done with college sports” and that be it. I’m moreso the guy whose interest is just going to wane to the point that I don’t watch anymore. It would actually free up a lot of time that I could be more productive🤣🤣

      I don’t completely disagree, but at least they used to have sit out a year if they transferred. If I’m going to lose a year of eligibility, I’m going to think long and hard before I leave for another school. Now? No reason whatsoever to stay.
