UTEP is 1-6.

UTSA is 3-5.

Tulsa is 2-5.

UTEP and Tulsa are without their starting QBs.

It looks like a cakewalk to the end. But, there can be no let up. Time to put the pedal to the floorboard.

The toughest of the three remaining will be UTSA. They play at Tulsa this weekend, host Tulane the week after, then have a bye week before they come to Denton. If they can pick off a win against Tulsa or Tulane, they will still have a chance a bowl eligibility.

With that hope, a veteran coach, and a veteran QB, they will be a tough tango. If Tulsa and Tulane both beat them, they'll still be coming off a bye week and Coker and Soza, we still can't sleep on them.

As much as many people here may hate to admit, we do need them to knock off Tulane. That will make them a tougher opponent. But, our post-goal eligibility goal is obviously the get to the C-USA Champioinship Game.

Tulane's final four are:

Nov 2: @ FAU - a reeling FAU? The Green Wave offense is bad. Is it bad enough to lose to FAU? Probably not.

Nov 9: @ UTSA - this Roadrunner team is feisty. They know they need to go 3-1 over their final four to make a bowl. This is a pivotal game for both...and, we need UTSA to win it.

Nov 16: BYE

Nov 23: UTEP - these are two bad offenses squaring off. But, UTEP also has a really bad defense. Defense has been Tulane's saving grace. No way Tulane loses this one.

Nov 30: @ Rice - three of Tulane's final four are on the road. Rice may also be looking for a share of the C-USA West title. So, this one will be a battle...and, we need Rice to win it.

UTSA cannot become bowl eligible until next year.

If FAU can pull it together and beat Tulane (I believe FAU is favored)....

I don't think there's anyway Tulane can run the table from there.

@ UTSA and @ Rice after that.....

I don't see them sweeping that.

Just please FAU beat them on Saturday....it gets really interesting then.

They're only eligible if CUSA can't provide enough teams for the six slots.

Someone needs to tell Wright Waters. He thinks the pool is the entire 35 bowl games:

The executive director of the Football Bowl Association said it's not out of the question to think a 6-6 UTSA team could qualify for a bowl game this year.

But Wright Waters cautioned in a telephone interview Tuesday that there are 34 bowl eligible teams at this juncture of the season, plus another 17 needing only one more victory.

“And that's pretty consistent with where we are every year,” said Waters, noting that it takes 70 eligible teams to fill slots in 35 postseason games.

Asked if that meant it was nearly out of the question to think a reclassifying program such as UTSA could qualify this season, he said, “I think it'd be premature to say that.

“Because, you just never know what's going to happen. Could it happen? You just never know.”

Hopefully the mindset of the team is that these next three have a combined record of 16-6. One thing that has always worried me it that we have not shown that "killer" instinct to put teams away. We need stay hungry and #HIT8

If we want to go to the title game we'll need to #hit9. And Tulane needs to lose 2 (I would guess Rice and UTSA). So here's hoping for 9-3 for us and 8-4 for them.
