CBS SPORTS: UNT unveils special uniform for 100th

Even if many of those seasons have gone unnoticed outside the Lone Star State, as of 2013 North Texas has been playing football for 100 years -- and they're going to celebrate in style during their season opener against Idaho.

As part of their program media days Monday, the Mean Green unveiled a special centennial uniform to be worn against the Vandals comprised of elements from different UNT eras -- the jersey dates from the 1960s, with the helmet logo from the '70s and early '80s:

Neither can I. Awesome though, that the name has become the "flying worm." Wasn't it just a nickname for the logo?

Rick Spears who designed the logo called it the Stylized Eagle, and was never too excited about it being called the Flyin Worm,.. But that is what stuck. So there it is....The Flyin Worm.

Some day after a couple of retirements from one dept in particular on our campus...not the AD,...I hope we can eventually get an interlinked NT somewhere on our uni's along with the SOW too.
