North Texas' Tony Mitchell NBA Draft Analysis

20. Tony Mitchell, PF/SF, North Texas: Aim high! In a draft full of middling prospects, it seems worth it to go after one of the biggest boom/bust guys we have seen in years. Mitchell is one of (if not the) best athlete in this class and like some of the other players on that list has not impressed this year. That said, Tony did a good job in the U-19 World Championships where he was the per-minute rebounding leader over guys like Jonas Valanciunas and Patric Young. If he can put it together, Mitchell could be an NBA starter and/or an important contributor on a strong team.

Always a chance, but they will be in the lottery and Mitchell is projected to go later in the 1st round. If they took him, it would be a reach.

Mavs may not be a lottery team yet. They have a chance to get into the 7 or 8 seed...

Boom or bust is the perfect description for TM...he's likely to go in the 20-30 range in the first round, or maybe even early second (doubtful as long as his workouts are still amazing), and whoever drafts him is either going to end up with a really good starter with the ceiling to be a star...or a taller, better defending Gerald Green.

Gerald Green....? He could actually shoot the ball and played little to no D. Mitchell is the exact opposite of Gerald Green at this point. What are you talking about!?!?
