Reports: Odessa Permian naming Blake Feldt coach

If you want Boone in before he's ready (if he'll be ready?), or you want Cam in despite his ability, then yes.

Something tells me he wouldn't steer any of his players to a place where his own sons ride pine...?

He, as a coach, understands everyone can't play. As long as he perceives that his kids were treated fairly, I'm sure he would steer kids that couldn't get offers from the big boys to UNT.

There is only so much a coach can do.

Permian pipeline? Dare I dream?
Not out of the realm of possibility. They haven't really produced any legitimate D1 prospects since Garrett Porter (class of 09) who is still at Texas.

Still would be a solid pipeline if it could be established, as we are the closest D1 school to west Texas besides Tech and UTEP depending on which west Texas city.

Permian is far from what they used to be although they do produce one or two prospects a year. They had a lineman, Webb, that played at TCU and is now in the pro'a. Curious why Feldt would leave an area with more kids to choose from for Permian, who is probably past its prime.

1. It's Odessa Permian. It's kind of the "holy grail" of Texas high school football, even if their dominance isn't what it used to be.

2. "Feldt will receive a two-year contract at Permian with a salary of $110,399 per year plus a $7,200 car allownce" [sic].

1. I live out here. They aren't even in the top two in their district, not even close.

2. The car allowance is nice, but the cost of living out here is through the roof especially housing due to the oil boom.
