Charles Walker visiting OU this weekend

DT Charles Walker 6'4" 280 lbs (Garland, TX) - VIDEO

Walker is a guy who has been very much under the radar, but has burst onto the scene recently with some very impressive senior film. The Oklahoma scholarship offer only added to the attention as they tend to do. Injuries have been the only reason Walker has not received more attention. When he has been healthy he's been absolutely dominant, which was never more evident than in his senior film.

He's a guy that, if he can stay healthy, could be a real diamond in the rough for Oklahoma if they could secure his commitment.

Walker discussed possibly committing at the time the Sooners offered and has said if he likes what he sees this weekend he could commit on the spot.

Walker currently holds offers from Oklahoma, Houston, Iowa State, New Mexico, and North Texas among others.

Stay at home, and you can hit the field as soon as you're healthy. We need ya now!

OU got a commitment from DT Mathew Romar, 6-3, 275, Port Arthur Memorial. He shows several offers, including UNT. If Walker committed to OU, that's two potentially good DL they have picked up. Damn!

Looks like three of the four in OU's two-deep graduates. So, they sold them on playing time. Get there and work hard enoug, and you're in from game one of your freshman year.

It is a little strange seeing a school like OU hitting the two-star DT field. But, when you're thin, you're thin. You go out and get them...or, at least, you should go out and get them.

OU was VERY thin and needed help at DT.

I think TA&M making a successful transition to the SEC is REALLY going to hurt OU in recruiting in the long run.

No worries, Walker is now a three star because God forbid OU signs a position player ranked beneath 3 stars.

A&M blowing up didn't help OU or Texas this year. But, we'll see how far they go. I suspect many SEC schools assumed they be as big a pushover as they were in the Big 12 and didn't take them seriously enough. Throw in a freshman QB, and they didn't take it seriously enough.

I'll be impressed if they can repeat their 2012 success, but I'm not holding my breath.

As for OU and Texas...Texas needs a QB and some real playmakers. That kid from Aledo didn't exactly knock the socks of the college level guys like he did in his mediocre high school division. They also lack playmakers at WR. Their defense is pathetic.

Ditto OU. Yeah they went 10-3, but look...they couldn't stop the run for jack and could have lost a couple more because of it if West Virginia and TCU didn't suck - one sucking on defense (WV) and the other on offense (TCU). They are desperately hounding 2-star DT recruits to close out their recruiting. They lose their four year starter at QB as well. They'll face an uphill climb.

Texas and OU have gotten complacent, there's no other way to say it. A&M caught lightning in a bottle for a season.

It trickles down to us being screwed out of some D-line recruits. Still, it's been hard to be impressed with what we've picked up on the line in classes one and two for McCarney anyway. We're in real trouble here if they guy who redshirted this season aren't playing at a higher level than what we have. It's just that simple.

Getting extensive playing time in the OU d-tackle rotation in their bowl game today against Clemson, as a redshirt freshman. So much for "have fun riding the pine at OU."

Further debunking the myth that kids choosing between us and P5 schools will start from Day 1 if they chose us but will be relegated to riding their pine all their career if they go P5.

Hey, Billy...how's it working for that OU defensive rotation today against Clemson? Announcers said the team in white (OU) looks like a bunch of scout team players while the guys in Orange (Clemson) look like the varsity scholarship players. Too funny.

Hey, I'd take pretty much any of those OU DT's here at UNT, but they are getting killed today so far by Clemson! As an OSU grad I can't help but laugh at that comment and enjoy the drubbing Clemson is giving OU so far...but, hey it's only 27-0 at half. Anything can happen in the second half.

The fact that they are getting absolutely drummed is completely irrelevant to the point. He's getting reps and playing as a redshirt freshman for an 8-4 bowl team out of the BIG12. Go back and read the previous posts in this thread and you'll see posts like this.

Ride it.

Or implying he'll transfer because who won't crack the rotation, etc. It's a very common statement on here by various posters on the board anytime a kid commits to a P5 over us or is even considering or being recruited by a P5. I'm just trying to show people that when our targets choose a bigger school they aren't submitting themselves to an automatic career on the bench.
