We're among the 51 schools that showed forward progress in increased home attendance, albeit labeled as a "minor increase" over the year before.

I don't care. Considering where our overall attendance places us on that list, even a minor increase looks really good.

No, they are not, not at our and NIU's level.

Weather has A Lot to do with attendance. We were blessed this year, but failed to take advantage. There may have been less than 5k at the last home game if not for beautiful weather.

I still remember the Ohio game in... 2009? We were coming off a win on the road against a Ball St. Team that had been nationally ranked the year before. There was a buzz around the program for the 1st time in years. I was expecting 25k plus for that game. What happened? Typical UNT luck brought an all weekend rainstorm. Maybe 14k braved the weather. We lost on 4th and 16.

While definitely not the be all, end all of attendance factors, weather is a huge one, especially for struggling programs like UNT.

That Ohio game didn't come close to being as bad as that first home game against Western Kentucky, weather wise. Rainy and barely above freezing. More people attend scrimmages.

This is absolutely true. When the weather is nice people will come out to tailgate and will make an all day event out of it. When the weather is bad (or in our case even threatening to be bad) people will keep their day free and won't make the effort to stop what they're doing to make the game.

This is what happens when you are an option, not a destination.

Such is the football culture at not only UNT, but pretty much every FBS school that isn't in a big 5 conference with rare exceptions.

For me, that game fell squarely on the skillet hands of Mike Outlaw.

Theres an interesting story about Outlaw in that game that not a lot of people know about... Because of that I wont blame him, bc I understand what he was going through... but still a tough lost

This game! Best/Worst Game ever!

It was SOOOO COLD! But we won!

And that was the game that started my hatred of Western Kentucky.
