Indoor Football Practice Facility Down the Road?

All About UNT

This would down the road of course in regards to our AD and their priorities in developing facilities. That didn't stop me from finding out the costs of other's indoor facilities.

UVA- $14 Million http://www.uvaindoorfacility.com/

Eastern Michigan- $4 Million http://www.annarbor.com/sports/eastern-michigan-breaks-ground-on-39-million-indoor-practice-facility/#.UDqJO91mQaw

Iowa- $5 Million http://thegazette.com/2012/06/27/list-of-donor-opportunities-for-iowas-new-football-facilities/

Cost of Indoor Practice Facilities

« on: April 17, 2012, 07:47:15 PM »

When one is retired and has a lot of free time, he checks on the cost of indoor football practice buildings. The following is what I found today concerning the costs:

Miami Dolphins $2. Million

Houston Texans $3. "

Colorado $2.9 "

Texas $4. "

Highland, TX HS $4.5 "

Georgia Tech $6.7 "

Northern Illinois $7.5 "

Louisville $8. "

Iowa State $10. "

Baylor $11. "

Illinois $12.5 "

Virginia $13. "

Florida State $15. "

Air Force $15. "

Boise State $17.5 " (Still raising the funds)

If we could get one built for around $3 Million would you consider it a waste of funds or no?

Yes, more like 5 mil tho and after a baseball program

Agree on the 5 million. Don't know about the "after baseball", though. Getting this built would be the final touch on all the existing programs and allow total focus to be placed on building a baseball program and stadium, which would require a whole lot more than 5 mil.

I like this idea but if we are going to do it, then we need to do it right. Like we did with our stadium. An indoor facility that matches the stadium, made with some or mostly brick, and not just a bubble that looks very cheap over time. Baseball can come later. Football is the largest sport and can raise the most money for NT athletics. The money we eventually make, through going to bowl games and etc., will give us more funds to start the baseball program and facilities the right way.

Rick V. has done a tremendous job and I'm sure he will see that it's done the right way. Now that we will be entering into CUSA, there should be more money as well for our program..... It's an exciting time to be a NT fan and the future looks even brighter!!!

If this facility is built, and it SHOULD be, spend an extra million or so to make the football facility so that it can accommodate Olympic sports indoor needs (designated times when football is not using it). I think soccer, softball, tennis, golf, etc need access now that the basketball indoor facility has taken away any indoor space these sports had.
