HOME GAME TOMORROW @ 7pm. Please come out and support them if you can! Here is my preview of the game in way more detail than many of you probably care for, but following this team closely is one of my favorite parts of being a NT fan, so here it goes:

Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 - 7 p.m.

Troy Trojans (7-5-1, 2-2-0 Sun Belt) at

North Texas Mean Green (9-3-1, 4-0-0 Sun Belt)

Mean Green Soccer Complex (1,000) - Denton, Texas

Series History: North Texas leads 7-0-0

Last Meeting: W, 3-1 (10/8/2010) at Troy

The Trojans' 7-5 Record is a little deceiving, with their wins coming against inferior competition. If we're being realistic, the likes of Alcorn State, Presbyterian, and Alabama State are not on the same level as even the bottom tier Sun Belt teams. While we are on the subject of bottom tier Sun Belt teams, ULL and ULM are the only common opponents so far this year between Troy and NT. Troy also went 2-0 against the teams, beating ULL 2-0 and ULM 4-0. Both of those games were played at home.

Troy has not won outside of the state of Alabama, while NT is 5-0-1 at home, and 7-1-1 in the state of Texas this year. Troy will be dangerous if the team overlooks them, but after last year, I think this team is out to prove something and is not overlooking anyone.

Mean Green Matt Prediction: 3-1 NT

Friday night around the Sun Belt:

Denver 7-0 USA

WKU 0-0 FIU

NT 4-1 Troy

ASU 2-0 ULL

UALR 3-0 ULM

MTSU 2-1 FAU

Home teams were undefeated this week, with the lone draw coming in the WKU/FIU game. Denver...Wow. Putting up 7 goals is a big deal no matter what the competition level, and USA is not a bad team. MTSU says on the right path, which is upwards. They belong no lower than 5th, which is (in my opinion) the cut off for the top tier of SBC teams. We are one game away from the halfway point.

Here are the standings (I'll start using tiebreakers after game #6):

(5-0): Denver, NT

(4-0-1): FIU

(3-2): MTSU

(2-2-1): USA, WKU

(2-3): Troy, ASU, UALR

(1-3-1): FAU

(0-5): ULM, ULL

Up next for North Texas...South Alabama on Sunday @ 1pm here in Denton.

      Doesn't seem new, but unlimited transfers

      I can't blame them, the system in place allows them to profit and to move freely. We may not like it, but it's the system. I'm hoping schools taking over the collectives, it's already happening for reasons I stated above, will usher in contracts and buy outs for players. We've opened Pandora's box so we aren't going back to amateur sports, the best we can get out of it is payment on our investments.

      Agree, there was some semblance of programs doing the right thing and following the rules even though they were always getting busted for violations, and everyone knew cheating was going on. It's why I was saying the veil is off now, and making everyone play by those rules has supercharged the whole thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the schools aren't supposed to work with NIL collectives to get players right? But everyone including UNT is 100% working with these collectives to send out deals to players. Same kind of fake rule following like we used to have, just more of it now.

      I’m not the type who’s going to say, “I’m done with college sports” and that be it. I’m moreso the guy whose interest is just going to wane to the point that I don’t watch anymore. It would actually free up a lot of time that I could be more productive🤣🤣
