Evan and I are very excited about the opportunity to visit with Coach Mac tomorrow. This will be a recorded audio podcast that we will post later in the day here on the site.

Since this site represents the fans of the Mean Green nation we want to reach out to you for questions to ask him. Just post your questions here in this thread. We will pick the best ones and will try to fit in as many as we can given the time allotted.

We appreciate Coach Mac and his entire staff as well as SID Eric Capper and the AD office and thank them for this opportunity! :goodjob:

1) What would he like his and the team's mindset to be going into Tuscaloosa? What does he expect to see?

2) What will it take to make NT competitive within the Sun Belt? What will it take to make NT competitive against top 50 teams?

3) What does he perceive as NT's advantages in building the program vs. SMU and TCU? What are our disadvantages?

What new/different ways can we expect Chico to use Dunbar this year, compared to 2010?

What's your favorite place to eat in Denton?

We appear to (again) have great depth at the RB position. Can the fans expect to see some new formations with 2 or more of them on the field at once?

Thoughts on Darius Carey, i.e. what role do expect of him?

How would you asess the talent on defense?

Coach Canales and Simmonds seem to be experimenting to find the best offensive line combination. Do you have concerns about being able to find the right fit?

Andrew Power was a highly recruited signee, and is a physical specimen. How would you grade his performance this spring?

Do you feel that you and your staff have been able to impact the culture here? Is the team buying in?

Taking a look at the schedule, there are 5 consecutive tough games to begin your tenure here at North Texas. How do you feel about the schedule?

Do you do anything in spring ball to begin preparing for FIU, Houston, and Alabama schematically? Or does that begin in fall camp?

For the most part the team has stayed very healthy this spring despite having a lot of physical practices. Would you attribute that to the program that Coach Wintrich has them on?

Do you have any players here who have the ability to play at the next level?

How would you rate Lance Dunbar compared to some of the better backs that you have coached over the years?

Classically, it can be shown that information crossing the event horizon of a black hole is lost to our universe, and that thus all black holes are identical beyond their mass, electrical charge and angular velocity. The problem with this theorem is that it implies the black hole will emit the same radiation regardless of what goes into it, and as a consequence that if a pure quantum state is thrown into a black hole, an "ordinary" mixed state will be returned. Do you agree or disagree that this runs counter to the rules of quantum mechanics causing a black hole information paradox?

Or you could ask if he prefers to go into the season with a definite number one quarterback or if he is comfortable with a platoon situation.

When you assessed the overall state of the team, you mentioned a "lack of D1" size at many positions.

Much has been said by previous staffs about "getting local guys in here", "developing what we have", etc.

Do you feel that successful recruiting in the trenches is a priority every year, or do skill position players come first?

Particularly on the offensive and defensive lines, what is the program's strategy for finding prospects that fit the mold UNT requires, when considering the difficulty UNT has faced historically when recruiting at these positions?

Understanding that JUCO players are possibly a last resort, has your view changed regarding JUCO help for positions of need on the OL or DL, or do you feel optimistic that prospective HS players can begin to fill these roles in the next year or two?

Both types of wins are nice to have, but which do you find more satisfying: Outscoring your opponent in a shootout 38-34 with your skill players running wild--but keeping your jersies clean, or seeing your offense and defense physically dominating your opponent, making him quit, and beating him 21-7?

Here are my questions:

1. Will any of the incoming freshman class come to North Texas this summer

to work out in the summer conditioning/training program?

2. For the last remaining football scholarship, are you searching

for a OL or DL player?

3. Are you going to have any football camps at North Texas this summer?

4. You learned from one of the best coaches, Hayden Fry. Fry used stand up

DE's in his defensive schemes. Have you considered having the DE's

to stand up rather than in a 3 point stance?

5. I see you have made some player position changes, Jamize Olawale, TE to WR,

and Will Wright, DB to LB. Both good moves IMHO. Any other player

position changes, who and why?

I understand you are currently staying at the Homewood suites. Are you looking to buy/build a home and if so, where ?

greenjoe...great question...but, I do know he has already answered this several times...answer is "yes" and in Denton. He has now sold his Florida home (one of them) and his wife has moved to Denton. Said they were currently looking...did not say if he wanted to buy or build but did say they wanted to be part of the Denton community.

Good to have him answer again in the interview...great question.

You have said Brandon McCoy is a natural defensive tackle. A glance at the roster shows a weight of 265, which in college means he probably goes for 250. Is the current roster weight wrong? Has Brandon beefed up over the winter? If so, what is his current weight? If not, there are some of us that are concerned that this is yet another defensive end being played out of position by a defensive line coach that has showed a propensity to do this in the past. How would you address those concerns?
