Mean Green Coach Dan Mccarney On Unt's Potential

"If this place didn't have great potential, we wouldn't be here," McCarney said. "If you look at the facilities and where we are located, the programs nearby and talk about the state of Texas from a football standpoint, why can't we be successful? We shouldn't have to take a backseat to anyone. We should take a front seat. If we can go back to bowl games, who knows how far we can go? To me, it's unlimited."

Good article but nothing really new except some comments from McCarney on the family issue he had at ISU. I still believe we made an outstanding hire.

The article was indeed nothing new to the small minority of us in the Metroplex that follow UNT football everyday. However, this story was great publicity for UNT to a majority of DMN readers who do not follow the Mean Green. It was a pleasant surprise to get the paper in this morning and see Coach Mac's name at the top of page one of the sports section.

Great article, great publicity. McCarney is going to do great things here at North Texas.

Had dinner with some friends the other night, and their daughter dates Bryce Tennison who plays Offensive Line at SMUt. He said that the players and coaches down at SMUt are very impressed with the McCarney hire; and know that he will turn things around quickly in Denton.
