Hire UMass' coach. In averting my eyes from the disaster at West Point, I flipped over to UMass-Michigan.

Though not spectacular, the Minutemen are very disciplined, focused and they play hard all game long.

If not UMass head coach Kevin Morris, at least hire his DL/Special Teams coach to coach our special teams. The Minutemen blocked punts at Kansas State during a 21-17 loss in 2009 and at Michigan during a 42-37 loss this year.

UMass came close to upending two BCS schools with the help of blocked punts.

A couple of extremely good coaches are the HC at some pretty good D1 programs in this area that were not former Head Coaches, but effective assistants or D1AA HC's. For example:

Kevin Sumlin

Bob Stoopes

Art Briles (when at UH)

Bayless at Rice

Graham at Rice and now Tulsa

Peterson at BSU

Patterson at TCU

Just hire the right person to lead our team. Every former HC that we've listed has baggage that I would prefer we not take on (Leach, Franchione, Levitt, etc...

Would Joe Avezzano be a viable candidate? We can sure use help on special teams. Plus he's got important Dallas Desperados experience.

Sorry to wait so long to reply to this, but was wondering if anybody else would. If there's one person (yes, there are probably more) with a worse collegiate head coaching record, it is Joe Avezzano.

Joe Avezzano at Oregon State

He DID do a great job as ST coach for the Cowboys; just showing that some who don't pan out as a college head coach can have a very bright future indeed.
