Not to beat my own weird dead horse, but if Mizzou couldn't beat this team twice, where does that leave them?

Can't assume Missouri couldn't beat WV because they couldn't beat OU. Texas Tech beat OU. Texas beat Texas Tech... OU beat Texas. See, it doesn't mean crap really. :)

I can extrapolate that for the second straight year the Big 12 sucks dong.

Stupid sports question: At the start of the game, they said that Bradford le the nation with a passer rating of 165.

Why is it that is higher than 153, which I have always thought was the cap for a passer rating

Does the NFL use a different formula?

OU has always had higher standards .

You can extrapolate it further than that. It's really been the Big 2 - Oklahoma and Texas since 2000. Yes, Colorado accidentally beat Texas in 2001 and Kansas State accidentally beat OU in 2003. But, neither of those teams stayed on the radar longer. Only OU and Texas really have national-title type speed on their roster.

To the people talking about the OU-Mizzou game, be realistic. OU played without three defensive starters last night. Against Missouri, they had just one guy out. Also, Chase Daniel is in no way as much a threat as WVU's Pat White. He's fat and throws short passes 60 times a game. White is a shifty runner who can hit receivers all over the field.

To the people talking OU-Tech, OU played all but the first series without their starting QB and the entire game without Big 12 sack leader at DE. Still, Tech had to withstand several attempts at an OU comback that night, and escaped with a close victory. With the QB and DE in the game for OU, Tech is blown out.

Players make a difference. West Virginia lost to unranked Pitt when Pat White, their starting QB was knocked out of the game. It's just one of those things.

To say OU didn't deserve to be in the BCS is absurd on its face. What you can say is that with five starters out - three on defense - Bob Stoops should have had more sense than to be going to two-points and trying onside kicks with a quarter and a half left in the game. OU was lucky to be that close at that point. Stoops should have been thanking God, taking his points, and kicking deep at that point. He didn't, and he paid for it.

But...that's why they pay the man $3.5 million...to panic early while losing another BCS game! :D

And to add more to your case, look at what happened to Oregon once Dixon went down for the season.

True. I forgot about Oregon. If Pat White and Dixon had stayed healthy, we'd probably be watching an Oregon-West Virginia national title game on Monday.

But, you've got to go with what you have. It just shows, again, the importance of having a good back-up QB. Virginia Tech can roll with two QBs - this season. But, for the most part, if a college team loses it's starter, they're deep in, deep in, deep in the hole as AC/DC would sing.

Big XII sucks? that's why they are 4 and 2 in bowl games so far, right? That's why they had the best Conference Bowl Record in 2005. Seriously.

When you look at Conferences year after year, all of them have their ups and downs. Every conference has some teams which are usually dominant. Every conference has some teams that are usually at the bottom. The rest ot the teams are all over the place. The Big XII is no different in this regard than the SEC, Big Ten, Big East, PAC 10 or the ACC.

Does the NFL use a different formula?

Yes the NFL and NCAA use different formulas to figure the passer (QB) rating.

Quarterback Rating Formulas

NFL Quarterback Rating Formula

(National Football League)

a = (((Comp/Att) * 100) -30) / 20

b = ((TDs/Att) * 100) / 5

c = (9.5 - ((Int/Att) * 100)) / 4

d = ((Yards/Att) - 3) / 4

a, b, c and d can not be greater than 2.375 or less than zero.

QB Rating = (a + b + c + d) / .06

NCAA Quarterback Rating Formula

(National Collegiate Athletic League)

a = (Comp/Att) * 100

b = (TDs/Att) * 100

c = (Int/Att) * 100

d = Yards/Att

QB Rating = a+(3.3*B)-(2*c)+(8.4*d)

TIP: Most high schools use the NCAA formula!

They have beaten 3 ranked teams in two years as an entire conference - 4 if you want to use the poll that ranked Arkansas before the Cotton Bowl. The MWC reeled off 5 straight bowl wins - are they the best in America? I said they have sucked for two years, so 2005 was a pretty good retort.

Maybe just the Big 12 South...is what they mean.

With the parity that is beginning to take form in college football, every game seems to be a microcosm. If next year continues this year's weirdness, that will be more of a truism than it was even this year. Who is/is not deserving of XYZ bowl playing MNOP team is becoming pretty irrelevant...

And because of the departure of their coach, I picked WVU to lose, and I'm trying to win 100 bucks. Aside from that, I'd always like to see OU lose. Imagine what they'd be without their players that come from Texas.

I want to see a Michigan/Ohio attitude here...where it's almost unheard of to leave Texas and play for an Oklahoma school.

And where does Mizzou belong? In a better bowl, maybe one that was given to 2 of the teams they beat, that's for damn sure.
