H-man, since we need help there....I think Franklin might play D next year. Just a guess.

And also, I think Sam Roberson cracks the top 8 rotation at WR.

LBs.....I expect Craig Robertson and AJ Penson will be two of the guys.

Just some thoughts of mine.

I've noticed as the season progressed, we started using a TE a little more often. I forget what Todge called the formation. Care to project who would be first/second string TE?

Didnt GILL get most of these snaps ???

I agree, Roberson will figure into the mix next year.... I can't wait to see what happens when Fitz & Fentriss wreck shop on the field next year , Evan was awesome during the spring drills.

Using previous nomenclature, one could assume Todge called this powerful lineup a "6 man front". Don't quote me on that, as I'm not fly with their complex jive.

Also rumored to be seen is a two tight end set, called a "7 man front". That's way over my head though. :)

That's the generic name ... but Todge has a odd name for the 6-man front. I'd check the KNTU Podcasts, but I don't want to spend 4 hours looking for it.

It's called the Tornado Formation. Victor Gill would be first in that formation and I'd guess that the backups would be Charlie Brown and Bryant Seidle.

Harry and/or Old Timer: Do we have any transfers on campus now who will be elgible Fall 2008?

Also, a couple of key JUCO transfer/recruits meshed into the defense could improve things considerably.

FWIW, with our offense and when we start stopping some folks, we upgrade quite fast in Mean Green Country. I believe this journey will be fun because I think each year we will see improvement that raises our football program to new heights.

That second end spot combo fo Rexrode / Owosu Hemeng bothers me. I really hope that Russo has added some bulk and will be ready to contribute.

Charlie Brown has been listed as a DE all year. As I recall, when he came to NT his speed made him a possible candidate as a WR. He's currently listed as 6'4" X 239. If he stays at the DE position, he could put on a few more pounds in the off season and be the next J. Chapman.

Just an honest question, but why does this concern you? Russo will be a redshirt freshmen next year while Rexrode/Owosu Hemeng have a few years under their belt. Actually, Rexrode concerns me, but Owosu-Hemeng performed very well in his HS all-star game, and I'm really curious to see how he performs for us. Another name that intrigues me is Marquis Sykes. Anyone know how Owosu-Hemeng and Sykes have performed in practice?

Those are two recruits in our last class who are redshirting.

JJ is a center from West Plano.

Kaiser is a 6'8, 290 lb. (or maybe bigger by now) mountain of a man, from Pennsylvania.

Know who they are...what I was trying to say was why are they not in the mix? Yes, Kaiser does look to be a mountain of a man, and one would think he could help, unless he has absolutley no athletic ability...

Hmmm. Sounds suspiciously like the "One-back offense" "I-back" or "pro set." Or, that's what every other normal coach would do...just call it what it is.

By the way, you'll note that in our two wins the run game and defense played a bigger roles than the passing game. Amazing what happens when you settle down and just play football. The "bend but don't break defense" seemed to deliver better than the "we need this many three and outs" crap.

Like I said before, when the Dallas Cowboys were stacking up Super Bowl title in the early to mid 90s, they weren't getting a bunch of "three and outs." They were the ultimate "bend but don't break" defenses, making plays when the pressure was on.

I hope we see more of the "keep them out of the end zone" mindset than the ridiculous "get this many three and outs." Who cares? Just keep them out of the end zone and you win more than you lose.

Give me results over stats every day of the week. Because, in the end, the only stat that counts is the final score.

I know this is cheesy, but when it comes to winning football games, I take the philosophy of that Ford dealer and their crappy commercials - "We don't care how you get here, folks, just get here!"

Give me that in UNT football - "We don't care how you win, just win!"

Wow, does Marcus King ever see the field? I thought he was pretty highly regarded coming out of HS.

He was somewhat of an unknown quantity. He played for a predominantly run-oriented offense at Trinity, but those close to the program, including Todd Dodge, observed tremendous ability and upside in him.
