Most of these fans are a joke on the alumni side. Yelling and screaming at teenage kids. One guy ran down to the first row and yelled crap at Dodge and the offensive skill players. I took several new people to the game for the first time and UNT has the typical band wagon fans. I cannot tell you how many people got up and left in the 3rd quarter. Piss poor fans. Next time I see someone yelling at Mosely for fumbling or Vizza for throwing a 40 yard pick (that is better than a punt) or at Green for getting beat on the double move for a score, I will be the guy getting escorted off by the police.

True fans like Rick, Emmitt, etc. etc. may be disappointed but never have I seen so many people yell crap at teenagers and at Dodge and Mendoza. That is unacceptable to me.

I have not been following UNT very long, so many guys on this forum have been around forever. This program might grow some with some wins but it will never be more than North Texas.

So many of these fans yell crap in the stands and have no inclination of what the hell is going on. After taking some new young guys to the game, I can see why UNT is such a tough sell. These fans are spoiled Metro Plex band waggoners who are looking for any excuse to get on or off the program.

If TCU can't do it (after all its past success and awesome facilities) how is UNT going to do it? Unless UNT finds another Mark Cuban, it won't happen. (be the next Boise State)

I don't know Dodge2007... maybe you've never been to a football game before. Maybe you've never listened to fans of other sports teams go through bad times. This is not atypical.

As for the alumni side, keep in mind that without the money from us boosters, there would be no program!!! So yeah, we may grumble and yell and criticize, but we literally put our money where our mouth is when it comes to supporting this team. And people can leave the game whenever the heck they want.

I feel it's somewhat hopeless saying this to someone who makes two words out of "Metroplex" and "bandwagoner" (granted, there's some historical basis for two "g's" in that), but you seem to be hearing something I was not (projection?). Why should we be more than North Texas, because you never were? We ARE North Texas; although I suppose "Texas State" is no longer "Southwest Texas", that was their choice, and one I hope we will not make. The directional prefix appeals to the geographer in me, seems accurate, and "North Texas" is the name of a school that is great in many ways.

I personally have never booed at anyone at any level, more less teenage athletes. Call it what you want, but its classless and not what a new programs needs. Leaving early when the game is still on the line is absurd, but if you can justify it, go ahead. I will never publicly call out coaches or athletes who are laying it on the line.

You money guys and others can do what you want but just don't be the one if front of me who yells shi.t at some WR who drops a sure TD pass or who calls out Roman for not fielding a punt in public because it won't be pretty. If you don't have some good to say then say it in private with your freakin buddies at the bar. Don't call out kids in front of the young kids and their families trying to enjoy a game. We all want more fans yet we run off the some of those same people with crap that flies out of people's mouths who don't know a bad read from a blocking sled.

I guess you're the first perfect individual I've encountered since my sister was in town last Christmas.

Call me what you want, I just don't hang around people that boo their own. Cussing at Roman when he gets schooled by OU WR's?? Hey, we were just outclassed and were in cover one. Was that his fault? But the boo birds and the long hair deal came out like he was a professional player or something. I actually felt sorry for him,,,,,, but boo him? F... No. I"ll leave that up to somebody else.

Dodge07 acts like nobody ever yells at coaches or players, except at UNT!

Dude, it happens at every level. And if you think us boosters at UNT gripe, imagine what it's like with some real money flowing into a big program that is doing poorly (SMU, Notre Dame, etc.)

Isn't that the truth. Heck, at the FAU game when NT scored their first touchdown and Boomer went phiiiwwtttt, some were ready to boo the canon crew!

Dodge2007 you heard noise coming from the stadium?

That was one of the most silent crowds I've encountered, even when we were keeping it close

no kidding. what the hell happened Saturday? That was one of the lamest crowds Ive seen in recent memory. The much smaller crowd of UNT fans at the SMU game were twice as loud.

When Roman thrice allows the ball to be downed inside the one some one needs to be called out. You either fall on the ball - the 6 yard line is better than inside the 1 -are block the man going by you to down the ball. Some one should be able to figure that out. The coaches are experienced and he is an upper classman (transfer). There is no reason a player at this level can not catch a punt.

I do agree with you wholeheartedly about the fans leaving early. We were not out of it until late in the 4th. Stay and support yhe team and coaches.

The alumni side has been lame all year. It is hands down the most boring group to watch the game with. Just sit down and watch the game. Don't participate in cheering or creating an actual college game atmosphere. We have no home field advantage when it comes to crowd noise.

I watched the fireworks with a lot of true fans! I have NEVER left a game early. I won't ever unless it's on a strectcher with a white sheet over my head! GMG!

We have no home field advantage when it comes to crowd noise.

Fouts is pretty much designed to NOT trap in and reflect sound. The difference in noise level from the first row of the stands to the actual field is pretty big because of the distance involved. The amount of distance from the 1st row to the 30th row is probably double what it should be because of the very low angle. The stadium is not enclosed, so sound can escape through the gaps.

I always thought Arkie State's stadium was great at making a few people sound really loud. It of course is the opposite of Fouts. The stands are sunken, close to the field, and have a steep angle.

Yeah, because no one ever yelled negative things at Darrell Dickey and his coaching staff. Ever. Everyone was very supportive until the bitter end. This board was upbeat. The crowds were positive and boisteriously rooting on the home team....<fart>

Anyway, I completely agree. Why should the alumni who give the most money and time to the program be allowed to voice their opinions? Why don't they just keep giving, watch their crappy football, and shut up?

Wow, you guys blast the alumni side when you look across and the student side is, at best, and I am being generous here, 2/3 full! Give me a break! I did not haer any booing and I did not see any "crud" going on. Maybe there was, but it was not the first time it happened in a college game, and it was not going to be the last. If it bothers you, bring ear plugs, but don't stay home! I guess you have never been to an OU or Texas game, and you should have been here last year under DD to get a real earful of the booing. I heard it last year.

Now, just what do you want the guys in the "paying seats" to do. Jump up and down and scream and hollar at every first down or completed pass, or stand up and block everyon'e view just because we are going for a first down on third down from the 40? O.K., go ahead, but I liike to act like I've been there before. I get up and yell and I do the "North - Texas" cheer, etc., etc., but, geez louise, don't give me a load of "stuff" just because I don't paint my face green, strip down to the waist in 40 degree weather, wear some green "stuff" in my hair and act like we just won a BCS bowl every time we make a first down! Go ahead, if you want too...me, been there done that. I'm a fan, I love the Mean Green, I buy tickets and I come to the games. Fill up the student side WITH STUDENTS (not opposing team fans) and I'll get over stressed about the "lazy" alumni side.

Folks, I do agree...cut out the booing and the name calling when it comes to "our guys and our coaches"...go ahead, have a field day with the opposing team! :D

I applaud the students that came in to the game. They were much louder than the more numerous alums.

I am ashamed of the thousands of students that were outside milling about in the parking lot.

The alumni section looked just as full last saturday as any other home game this year. IMO, the student section seems to be dropping off as the season continues.
