Why did the NT Exes ever develop their own logo that was different from the university's? Was this commissioned by the organization itself?..or by UNT? I guess I don't understand why the alumni association would NOT want to associate themselves with the official UNT marks. Can someone fill me in?

I think most alumni groups have their own logo. For example, Texas Exes has their own logo and doesn't use the longhorn

At the time that the Exes developed their logo the university had about 127 different logos and colors. The block NT was chosen to encompass all alumni..all went to NT, whether it was North Texas State, University of North Texas or North Texas State College, etc.

You know, I'm ok with the Eagle if it's upclose. But from looking at my plate, that gives me an idea of what it will look like from a distance, and it's not all that great I suppose. I'm trying to convince myeself otherwise. I hope the new 3-D version RV spoke of will look better.

We need to simply get away from printing an eagle on anything other than for the kids merchandise. It's never going to look fitting on uni's or serious marketing material.
