I see it as a BIG positive that Cassity had a chance to cull the staff he brought with him from SHSU. It looks like he brought all the defensive side. If he didn't like a work-effort or personality of someone he could have not invited them. They know each other and will jell faster as a coaching unit than if all were new coaches to each other. -

Just how out of whack is college football?
Once the Supreme Court allowed the NIL and portal to be the rule, the P2s and their networks were ready to pounce. So now we have CFB in the hands of the power brands, both conferences, and networks run the sport and made the rest of us their bitches. -

Is the Portal out of control?
No. players before the Big Buy were more likely to stay with a program as long as they saw rewards of playing time eventually. The past transfer penalty to sit-out a year kept players at a school and on the team longer....long enough to bond with the school, other players, get girlfriends....it then became more like a home to them. They stayed. Now? it's all about "how much"? Not even about playing time or academics or part of the country. -

Some college football head coaches struggle with the NIL and Portal era...and give it up
You know, SMU will be interesting to watch next year when they have a target on their back and they have to deal with expectations for the first time in about 40 years. Maybe they will fall back to being frauds and spares, but the current landscape makes me think that’s a pipe dream. I -
