Compare it to the other games on ESPNU. Many of the streaming and cable services do not carry ESPNU. Games on the major networks and ESPN have 20 times the available watchers.

This is what I noticed as well. Poor ratings but the best out of the ESPNU games.

Think this is important to note here. Also having it be a blowout didnt help.

Not necessarily. All the FCS games were HBCUs... those alumni are dialed in and actively seek out those watching opportunities. . That Jackson State game was particularly high 1. Because it was on ESPN and 2. everyone is curious how JSU does post deion

Glad we drew better than SMU. Also, I’m pleasantly surprised we drew better than the Tulane game. 

The linear exposure will be huge for us with the AAC. As a few small data points, I have family in the Midwest and on the west coast; I received multiple texts from them on Saturday saying, “We can watch North Texas games now!” They could have watched before on Stadium, but flipping through your cable program menu and seeing a team just makes it easier and more “real.”

The ESPN deal may help convert casual DFW fans into regular fans if we win enough.

If we could get a solid 10 year string going, we would become the college sports team of DFW. Our brand is more accessible and progressive than TCU or SMU to the younger generation.

      This NIL model is not going to be sustainable except for maybe the 30-40 richest schools. NFL players get paid but they are working in a business and are paid by the teams: who charge for tickets, media rights, concessions, merchandise, etc. Getting boosters to donate $$$ over and over for NIL without any financial return on investment can’t last forever. And getting these kids to sign autographs at your business or star in a local radio ad is certainly never going to be worth the kind of money being paid. This is pay-for-play, which is supposed to be against the rules. Eventually, the big schools will have to split off, the players are going to unionize and will get some kind of 50/50 revenue split with the schools. That is the only way this type of money is sustainable, in my opinion. And after that, why would the Texas Longhorns let Quinn Ewers get drafted by the Dallas Cowboys? The Longhorns will want to keep him and offer a 10-year contract and suddenly we aren’t even pretending these are student athletes anymore and college football is dead.
