GOMEANGREEN North Texas Football Scholarship Distribution Chart

Recommended Posts

We have an incredible, not-so-little, community of Mean Green fans here.  I sometimes wonder why a few of us (be it admins, mods, or a few passionate posters) do not utilize cloud-based services like Google Drive to combine our efforts into shared documents.  Documents that can be restricted so that a select few can edit it, but they are viewable by everyone.

We could keep track of recruit efforts, scholarship allocations, or something else.  Surely there are other ways I am not thinking about right now that could benefit, too.

For several years we had a Google spreadsheet tracking scholarships.  I managed it, listing names, class, and positions.   Users here would let me know when changes needed to be made.  However, it turned into a bear of a project as kids are coming and going all the time and they don't have press conferences announcing when changes are made.  It was more difficult and more work than I expected.

At the time I was living in Virginia and it was something I could do to feel involved with the team.  Someone like TheReal_jayD, with his inside sources, could probably do a much better job maintaining the list.

Maybe trim the focus down, and look at only signed?

I totally get your post here, knowing how fluid things are between "interest" vs. "offers" and "verbals"

I was only looking at signed, but guys come and go so quickly and often without an announcement.  I also wanted to have an active depth chart to keep track of things but, again, that can be so fluid.

I'll leave it for someone else to keep track of.

Looks like North Texas has one open spot for this upcoming season

This seems like the time of year we always get a random D2 or FCS transfer portal player. Well that was the case with the old staff. I am interested to see what they target this late. I created a pivot table of the scholarship data.

Based on the below data, I think we are going to target another TE. That seems to be the last remaining need.

Normally, but we are changing to a 3-3-5.

This is an interesting topic as I discussed roster management with a P5 safeties coach this evening that has also moved to the 3-3-5. His goal is to have 6 ready to play each week, 3-4 gaining some practice experience in case of injury, and 2-3 redshirting. According to him, the transfer portal has made it difficult to maintain those numbers.

In this scheme you will see far less man coverage and more zone with cloud and quarters so you will see 2 corners play 80% of the snaps in a game. Their might be a 3rd rotate in occasionally if there are issues.. DL should be rotating at least 6 every game. Safeties will have different personnel groups (Nickel, Dime specific players) in the back end depending on opponent. LB's rarely rotate. I would expect DL and Safety to take the majority of the spots depending on age and experience of the 2-deep. Every team sets up their rosters a little different so it is debatable.
