UAB (3/30/23)

If I remember correctly, didn't we beat them twice already this season?  Somehow they managed to win in the tournament (and that was the last time we met) so we should be able to avenge that.  If they can repeat the stifling defense that they put on Wisconsin in the last half then I don't see many teams that can beat us.

We split during the regular season and we crapped the bed to start the game in the conference tournament.  Time to draw this season series even.

EDIT: I am once again plagued with a moment of dumb assery. We swept the regular season.

The UAB point of view on Grant leaving, our future, and our game...

RE: NIT Finals

"Those are good points. I expect them to remain highly motivated, as well. Was just hoping that the coaching change would throw a wrench in things.  I hope their team doesn’t implode next year. As much as I hate the way that they play, they have been a really good, successful program, And raise the quality of basketball in our conference."

I would be happier if TX Tech took Kennedy.

They seem very classy the last few days.  I respect their program immensely.

I haven’t kept up this week but tend to agree.  That fanbase has been through so much and I respect them and they are generally pretty classy.  Only Blazer I ever hated was that 35 yr old defensive lineman they had but I guess when your football program is taken away you deserve to have some grace with some of that.  I hope it’s a well contested game and look forward to our both moving on to greener pastures together.  We both survived the grinder and here we go again!

Was Walker out both of those games or just one?

just the game at theirs.

honestly...I think I'm fine if Jelly goes for 40. I'm more worried about Gaines (who really won that game against UVU in OT), Ty Brewer (who has careered twice in the NIT) and to a lesser extent Jemison whose activity and athleticism is so much different than what Sissoko faced with Crowl and might prove tough to deal with.

UAB is setting up to be our biggest out-of-state rival in the new AAC with LA Tech, MTSU, and WKU left behind. I hope our road game with them next year is on a Saturday to allow some of us to travel to the game.
