Watching these replays/highlights and listening to the PxP.  I swear (after 2 games), Fran just wants to defend the ref calls, even when they are not legitimate.  He doesn't seem interested in second guessing the crew.

I'm thinking specifically of the calls on Jelly today, plus that strange "kick" whistle on TP in the Wisconsin game.

I could be wrong (and biased) though.  Maybe he questioned some of their calls and I'm overlooking them.

to be fair UNT got away with 3 time clock violations, that accounted for at least 7 pts. Refs were at least consistent

And Fran rolled with it, right? My point wasn’t whether they were consistent, it was Frans stance on these erroneous calls: he didn’t question them and, in fact, tried to paint them as correct.

I agree with that assessment, but these refs are making calls in real time, we get to see replays. As an official in another sport, I cut them some slack.

Where was the third? I only remember two for five points.

In fact, after the first missed call, the refs tried to give UAB a make-up call by calling a shot clock violation on Tylor that wasn't. This was like the first or second possession after the timeout where the refs couldn't take away Tylor's first 3. But the shot missed anyway.
