The last weekend before NSD. North Texas is trying to close out the first class of the Eric Morris ERA. I know I always look at things with green tinted glasses. But this glass has the real potential to be a special class with all things considered. Coach Morris was behind the 8 ball from the moment he was hired. But this staff has worked double time to put together a very nice class. It is well balanced with talented additions in all three phases. The class has a mixture of ready to play now guys as well as developmental guys. This weekend will be the last chance for the staff to put finishing touches on the glass prior to next Wednesday.

Jayven Anderson

This would be a huge pick up late. He would be a top 5 recruit according to rankings according to 247 in the ranking’s era. He has double digit offers including multiple P5 offers. Not to mention he also plays a position of need, not to mention a very important position in the new defense. 

Desmond Magiya

McKinney (McKinney, TX)

Offensive Tackle

The current commit will make the trip up to North Texas. This kid is a raw offensive tackle prospect with only 2 years of football experience. He reminds me of a Jacob Brammer type. Long athletic specimen than can develop into an all-conference type OT. 

Kollin Lewis

Gladewater (Gladewater, TX)

Kollin Lewis is the next recruit coming into town. He is a freak athlete from #bEASTexas. He is being recruited as both a CB and WR. The staff has said he has the talent to play both sides at D1 level. As we have learned in the past, the kids from deep in the heart of east Texas have a lot of room to grow. Very exciting prospect with some good upside. 

 

Matthew Moore

Matthew Moore may be the steal of the class. He is highly underrated, but the staff is very high on his potential. He is a 6-2 linebacker that has 4.5 speed, and you can see it on film. Not to mention he is a star in the classroom. 

Joseph Kim

Lawton High (Lawton, Ok)

Kicker

Big time kicker prospect. Currently the number 7th ranked kicker in the country. Can never be too set at the kicker postion. It can win and lose you a game. North Texas has been spoiled the last decade. Will be interesting to see who carries on torch after 'Money" Mooney. 

 

West Wilson

The tight end room has been depleted this offseason. Wilson is a name that can come in to add some depth to that room. He also can flip over to the other side of the ball and play some DE as well. Visited Boise State last weekend.

Yeah, I think if we close out the class with these 3 guys, all played in state championship game this year and perhaps some last year. That’s a huge win. They know how to win and play positions of need for the team.

"recruit winners" approach is kinda lost on me after those first Todge signees never panned out.  I get the logic, though.  It just doesn't always work out like you think.

Some of these guys are used to so much winning in these TXHS powerhouses, they've never had to face adversity and learn how to react.

Is Moore a back up plan if brown-turner flips? I'm not sure how many spots are left but seems like we're pretty close to full

Right there with you, although I will take SOC winners over Southlake or Highland Park winners in a heartbeat.

What is the honest angle of offering some of these kids?  Let’s look at Kelvion Riggins for example.  He picks up P5 offers every other day.  And not P5- offers, P5++ offers.  And they offered first. 
 

Do we think we can recruit against Bama, OU, Mich, Georgia, etc?

Do we hope that we can in 2 years when they are ‘commitment ready’?

Are we doing so to get/keep our name out there with mega-programs? 
 

Would I take the kid or kids like him? Absolutely.  LFG. Just wonder what type of intent there is behind these types of offers.
