I don't know about the rest of you, but I demand better. Mattress Mac should be and could be an icon for UNT Athletics, the dude loves sports, but no one wants to build that relationship apparently.

You guys are missing the point of this. He is a Houston-based furniture salesman. Doing a NIL deal with the Coogs who are based in Houston and also ranked #2 IN THE NATION may help him sell a few more couches. Doing a deal with an unranked DFW area team does absolutely nothing for his business and essentially ends up being a donation. There are two sides to the NIL coin.

He played football at UNT, his son graduated from UNT, while I agree this is to sale furniture, there's no reason we shouldn't be building a relationship with this family, he alone could fund a baseball program here, dude just made 75 Million on the Astros winning the world series. Two sides of the NIL coin is a fine excuse, but it's an excuse. Where are our moves? Where are our big donations?

You can’t be serious. You don’t know squat about the man if you really believe this. He is NOT $75 million richer, he hedged a bet. He is a Houston staple. He places a bet like that Astros one every time a Houston area team is in a championship game or series. He uses it to sell furniture. https://www.furnituretoday.com/retailers/mattress-macks-astros-promotion-is-gallerys-biggest-as-houston-makes-fall-classic/

He claims both UT and UNT but more than anything, he is about Houston where he makes his home and his money. He spent 2 years here 50 years ago. If you want to sick the NIL dogs on someone I think you’re looking up the wrong tree but feel free to take time out of your busy schedule soliciting the man the next time you’re in Houston. Stop in his store, he is usually wandering around cleaning up, making sure things look neat, and greeting folks.
