Tailgating Question

I thought we had D1 baseball but it appears from this article on the fundraising website that we were only club baseball until we joined the Southland and varsity baseball was required for entry. We had varsity D1 baseball from ‘84-‘88. A whopping 5 years of NCAA baseball history. We still have club baseball today so what is the problem?

Baseball at North Texas was drastically underfunded as a D-1 program. They played at Mack Field miles from campus. They were given, I think, two scholarships for the entire team. That's basically a Big Chief notepad and McDonalds coupons.

It is a great spectator sport, the talking sport, played in the Spring. There is great talent close to home. We didn't win a whole lot of games in our D-1 days but it is always fun to watch players that love the game, even in crappy conditions, play like it means something.

We are upgrading the conference. We should add baseball.
