ESPN appears to have balked at the price, and will focus instead on the SEC and other Conferences.

"The Big Ten's new media rights agreement, which still must be approved by league presidents and chancellors, reportedly is set to bring the league more than $1 billion annually."

Big 12 just got richer. ESPN needs them!  Might speed up the PAC talk.

Predictions that ESPN will want the PAC12 in tact now, or expanded...

"Now that ESPN is removed from the Big Ten media rights picture, the network has every incentive to preserve those Pac-12 late-night games and gain inventory. It is in ESPN’s best interest to preserve the Pac-12, and with Fox now fully invested in the Big Ten, it would seemingly have no reason to throw money at the Pac-12 with USC and UCLA gone. Fox wanted USC and UCLA under the Big Ten umbrella."

The first question then is, Will the Big 10 pluck any more members from the PAC?  And if so, how many?  They're all ready to jump at the first whisper of a Big 10 invite.

I think the first part of the equation depends on Notre Dame's status.  That should come shortly as they are negotiating with NBC for like $75 mil per year and they would stay Independent.

If that happens then value would have to be assessed by the Big10's new Media partners on different PAC12 additions: Wash & Oregon only.... Wash, Ore, Stanford, & Cal....or hold tight as is?
