Womens golf C-USA tournament

Starting today in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The favorites (UNT, UTSA, Charlotte) are all teeing off in the same group, starting at 8:40 eastern time.

It appears that Emilie Ricaud is back for NT, which is good news.

You can follow on golfstat:

I will say that C-USA is already at least level with the AAC in womens golf, but with all the best teams going over, the AAC will improve merkedly in that area.

Also, I think NTs women are pretty safe and don't actually need to win the tournament to get to the NCAAs. They are ranked 44th on golfstat / 45 on sagarin/golfweek.

other C-USA teams are ranked

UTSA:  49/54

Charlotte: 74/72

ODU: 100/92

Middle: 109/105

USM: 118/129

FAU: 119/119

WKU: 124/122

FIU: 127/133

UTEP, UAB & Marshall: 170+

Kind of a rough opening round.  We are in sixth place, nine strokes out of the lead.

Yeah, definitely not a great first day. FAU was able to take advantage of the location. The crazy part is that hole 4 alone was responsible for 8 of those 9 shots difference (FAU went-1 NT +7). 9 shots is a decent amount, but it can absolutely be picked up. It is a little more than 1 shot per pairing per day.

Clearly better day today. +15 for the team on the day, 9 shots better than yesterday gained at least a few spots. Currently third and still 7 shots behind UTSA who is in the lead, but UTSA FAU and ODU are still out there likely losing a few shots. NT will almost certainly make it back to top 3 today. Likely with a slight uphill battle, but still with a shot at this tomorrow.

Marija Jucmane replaced Ellie Roth who struggled yesterday and performed very well with a +2. Patricia Sinolungan (+2) and Shreya Pal (+3) also had great days. For team leader Audrey Tan the day was however somewhat disappointing. After starting with 7 pars, she bogeyed or DBed 4 in a row and ended on +8

Those still counted however, because for Emily Ricaud it was bad day (+12, +7 on the last 5 holes alone, yesterday +11). Wonder if coach will bench her for the last day.

The closer the others are coming to the finish line, the better NTs day is looking. So far NT is the only team who actually shot better than yesterday, by now second, only 2 shots behind leader UTSA, with those still having a girl out there.

12-15 holes played, and NTs deficit is still (again back down to) 2 shots. Gonna be a nail biter. Feels like NT has the advantage on the first three pairings and loses shots on the last two, particularly UTSAs number 1 is playing great and Shreya pal is having not as great a day as the first two days. But since she might be the non-counter today, NT might still pull this out.

Indeed great comeback win by the ladies!

Lots of players who showed nerves on the final 3 holes (lots of double and even tripple bogeys), but NTs ladies were those who were most clutch. Conditions were tough today, scores generally higher than on day 2 (where they were already higher than on the start day).

Its incredible how quickly and how far this program has come. 5-6 years ago this program was not even among the 200 best programs in the country, the dregs of C-USA. Today they finished off the conference with a win as the favorite when needing to be clutch.

Off with a great feeling to play regionals. Hopefully they will get a fair chance this year and not again get scandalously robbed by some Louisiana administrator too big for his britches.
