This should get moved to the right thread

sitting here watching the Texas/OU baseball game….

UNT needs baseball sooner than later

i still not sure why we don’t have baseball

$$$$$$$ for a venue plus lack of meaningful interest by thousands of supporters instead of dozens.

Well you just can't maker a $10 million dollar venue investment just because a hundred or so people want one and say they will buy a bag of peanuts and coke when they attend a game. Margaret Thatcher once said something to the effect that " the problem with socialism is sooner or later you run out of other people's money". The problem with establishing a baseball program is all the posters on this site that want one seem to think its a great idea if they don't have to pay for it.

BS.  I know for a fact that the athletic department has been approached by significant donors that want to both give and raise money for a baseball program.

What a disappointment it would be to find that the university leadership's vision of what a major university should be is based mostly on what some people volunteer to pay for. Would be so much better for leadership to dream and then go and sell their ideas to constituencies. A giant major university with a baseball team is not even a very lofty dream. Makes you wonder what they ARE dreaming about. But then we shouln't have to wonder, should we?

What about our athletic existence suggests to you a baseball team would be well supported?

The claim was that there were a couple dozen supporters of this idea and I disagree with that.  I think there are a lot of people in Denton that would support a baseball team at North Texas if it is done correctly and the commitment is there from the athletic department to fully support the program.

Now, I agree with Wren Baker's decision to fully support the existing programs prior to adding another.
