Who Am I?

Recommended Posts

Alright.  Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen and Boys and Girls to Tuesday's addition of "Who Am I"?

Clue #1.

Received a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys once his career with the Mean Green came to an end.

Derek Akunne or Jamize Olawale

Clue #3:

His training camp visit with the Cowboys was at the original Thousand Oaks location.

I got nothing, I was a child at that time cheering on the Oilers and Aggies while living in the rural outskirts of Fort Bend County. I didn’t follow the Cowboys or UNT at that time.

Jordan Case

Not Jordan Case, but their careers overlapped.  This player was a freshman/soph. while Case was a junior/senior.  Also, Case was from Texas playing high school ball at Seagoville.  This player was from outside of Texas.

Pete Harvey, #16 on your program. A great receiver and punt returner. He played in the 78 season and was the leading receiver in the 79-81 seasons. Which means he played for three different coaches.

We have a winner.  One of my favorite players as a kid.  He was fearless.

Played two years in the CFL, '82 Montreal Concourdes & '83 Edmonton Eskimos, after his tryout with the Cowboys.

Discovered he now lives in Sugar Land and is in the car business as the New Car Sales Director for the Gillman dealerships.

NEXT PLAYER:

Played under Corky Nelson in the late '80's and a big reason we beat TX Tech in Lubbock in 1988.

Rex Johnson?  I remember that we were about 21 points down just before half and one of the plays in our comeback was Rex Johnson (a nose tackle) intercepting a pass from Billy Joe Tolliver.

Rex Johnson did have a huge interception return for a TD in this game, but he is not the player.

Clue #3: Coach Corky Nelson said this may have been the turning point after Tech's Wayne Walker torched us for two touchdowns in the first half.
