It’s all-or-nothing time for UAB in awkward CUSA tournament

Recommended Posts

The Conference USA basketball tournament is here, and hopefully for the majority of teams currently in the league never again. Winner gets to cut down the nets, and also take down the curtain.

Let’s get awkward.

The most important week of the year is here for UAB basketball, which is to say, Jordan Walker better be comfortable shooting jumpers on a rent-a-floor basketball court inside a football practice facility in Frisco, Texas. Ah, good ol’ Conference USA. Nothing says “we don’t care about basketball” quite like hosting a conference tournament on two courts separated by a partition inside a building that draws more people for Dallas Cowboys dance camps.

This writer REALLY hates CUSA, Lol...

"CUSA deserves Sam Houston State, which is joining the league when UAB leaves for the American Athletic Conference. In Birmingham, people are counting down the days....

Every year, I wish CUSA would be dissolved in a bucket of acid and then freeze dried and fed to the coyotes....

Good riddance.  It's the worst run conference in America and there isn't a close second."

But his distain does blur his facts a little:  "In addition to UAB, Conference USA is losing Rice, UTEP, North Texas, Charlotte and Florida Atlantic to the AAC."  UTEP will be VERY happy to hear this!
