Well I’m Littrell’s defense it sucks to lose DeAndre Torrey for that game.  It really was the difference in us winning in my opinion.

More than just that.  Torrey bailing on the team was a big loss, but we had other productive backs that went nowhere.  The play calling in the second half was terrible; a QB keeper up the middle from like the 8 yard line, really??  No halftime adjustments to Miami, a porous defense all game that couldn't cover their main receiver, bad interceptions in the middle of decent drives, etc, etc.  A performance more like the start of last season that left a bad taste.  We lost a ton of talent in the offseason to the portal, and added very little.  This could be a very ugly lame-duck year!

Maybe some of the basketball teams work ethic and success, will rub off on the football team.    I am just not that optimistic about this coming season until we prove that we have upgraded the most important position on the field.

We'll see how that optimism holds up Sept 3. If we lose to SMU yet again with a new coach and players, everyone should be calling for Littrell's head.

You know Jim Leavitt is still the DC there (year 2 now) and Rhett Lashlee (a Malzahn disciple) was the architect of SMUs offense that really took off as OC in 2018-19.  The transition could not be smoother.

Taking off the Green-tinted glasses... SMU is the first game.  We won't even have the FCS warm-up game to work on any kinks.  They're going to kill us.

Sad thing is I wish Leavitt was coaching for us.  He’s a good coach IMO.

Which will make it worse that a 7th year head coach gets blown out by a first year head coach instilling his own system (as similar as it may be to what they just had). We lose that game or get destroyed, everyone should blow up the Athletic Department calling for Littrell’s head
