I Figured Out The Strategy

Seth's strategy is to predict players who would normally go to smaller schools and then be ready for the transfer portal in 2 to 3 years.

He is getting the jump on signing them before they get a chance to go elsewhere and enter the portal at a later date.

And we were worried Seth did not have a plan for the Portal!

Maybe he knows that getting to 7 wins against the easiest schedule we have ever played at the FBS level will get him 3-4 more years and then these guys could be developed into something when he needs to get another contract extension...

of course, those guys will still have visions of running onto fields in burnt orange, maroon, crimson, purple, etc...so its probably still a very stupid plan. Then again, the ways things look, we are getting the players who will come here knowing SL is in a make-it-or-break-it season, too.

Brutal but pretty true.

I don’t think 7 wins gets 4 more years but I could see it getting another 1-2 tacked on, perhaps with a few adjustments to make it somewhat more favorable for the university (maybe lower the base and raise championship and bowl win incentives substantially).
