Didn't help the "#1 defense in the league" yesterday. Back to the article though, while I understand where they are coming from, I would prefer to still do squats. It helps (more explosiveness, strength, testosterone, etc.) more than it hurts

I’m curious how squats impact hamstrings? That always seems to be an issue. (Mason) I know at one time the Rehab guys was trying to get a hamstring deck that would measure something to do with this area.

They don't really work your hamstrings much tbh. Potential injury can come from squatting which builds up quads and glutes and not doing enough hamstring exercises and your legs are having to overcompensate from having your quads and glutes stronger than your hamstrings. A lot of PT's recommend things like ball leg curls and deadlifts for more hamstring activation.
