I get the summer edition every year. I didn't know he'd earned a Bronze Star.

For sure.  Whatever one might think about his magazine, it definitely is the "bible" for Texas HS football.

What a legend of Texas journalism. Began at the Waco Tribune-Herald in 1943 and didn't retire until 1993. Saved the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Led the Football Writers Association of America. Became a big name in Texas football that will extend far past his lifetime. Won a Bronze Star.
