@TheReal_jayD what about the dual threat out of Wichita Falls that went to UVA?? He is in the portal and may want to come home. I know that the staff would probably like a little more of a veteran presence but . . .

Yeah I believe they will add another qb this class for sure. If i had to bet it will be one with multiple starts at the college level.

@TheReal_jayD  Do you expect any surprises tomorrow outside of the 6 we currently have on-board (fingers crossed for Sione Finau!!)?   Or are we waiting to fill spots in February's window?

I think we will see some not currently committed sign today. I do think the majority of the class will be signed after today.

Stone Earle just committed

I suppose this was the one Walerius was alluding to yesterday.  Looking at his stats last year, I don't know if this is the guy that's gonna get us where we want to go.

In this class so far, we've signed 2 transfer QBs:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4691272/stone-earle
&
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4432242/jd-head

This is why it's critical to have a QBs coach who can actually evaluate tape, make inroads/build relationships with prospects, and sign QBs that will be able to win in the AAC.

Since Littrell arrived, we've signed the following QBs:
Mason Fine
Cade Pearson
Kason Martin
Jason Bean
Will Kuehne
Austin Aune
Amani Gilmore
Jace Ruder
Bryce Drummond
and now Head & Earle...
Am I missing any?

Mason was greatness, but after that?

Complete failure on Seth and Co. These are the 2 QBs we go get when we NEED a legit QB. How is it Seth has failed so bad at the most important position from coaches to players

Yes i believe we will have about 15 spots left after today.

I think he would be an upgrade for sure.

Then a number of players would be leaving other than the graduating seniors.  Who do you predict will not be returning?

Yeah that’s everyone. Although the thing we forget about Aune is that he walked on.

And maybe I’m being too optimistic, but I really like the Earle pickup. Just looking at his numbers as essentially a redshirt freshman, then assuming standard QB progression you would expect this guy to have become a 3,000+ yard/30+ TD type passer at the FCS level. And he had a 66% completion which is really impressive efficiency.

I feel like with Earle we got a guy who was on track to become the type of FCS QB we want, we just got him a little early before he really substantiated that. If he had stayed and become a Walter Payton award candidate type player his Sophomore or Junior year, we probably don’t get him.

There’s obviously risk and no actual track record of him becoming that type of player, but this is the type of thing you have to do at North Texas. You have to be a little bit keener and a little bit riskier with your moves than the schools perceived ahead of us in Texas.

Here were his stats from high school:

Look for talent buried on the depth chart... or talent who thinks they can play at the next level...

This exactly... I'm not saying he is on the level of Cam Ward... but after another year I don't think UNT would have been his top option.

Why can't we get higher level at the QB.  liberty does, Smu does, TX state just did. What am I missing
