I hear this a lot, the only problem is the vast majority of schools lose millions on athletics. Unless you want to consider that mandated student fees used for athletics are actually earned revenue.
As stand alone entities, there maybe a handful of schools outside of the SEC that really make money.
After successful group outings during the men's basketball season at SMU and Rice, we're looking forward to getting a crowd to support our softball ladies next Tuesday the 26th in Arlington at 6 p.m. against UTA. I know for a lot of people like me, Arlington's easier to get to than Denton.
Right now, if you are interested in going, let me know. I have an offer from an assistant coach to be put on the pass list for free entry. I don't have clarity yet on how many people can be put on the pass list, but normal admission is $10 - so group tickets would be even less.
No midweek nonconference bout this week. Straight into a home series with Tulsa. We are two of four AAC teams tied atop the conference standings at 5-1, along with FAU and Charlotte.
As of now, any inclement weather is supposed to wait until after the last game Sunday, so come out to Lovelace!
I would love to know if you've actually heard anything of substance like this, but even now I wouldn't be surprised. At least SMU has given us games in women's basketball over the past, and of course football. I'd be curious to know the last time TCU voluntarily played us in any sport. I remember in 2018 we hosted TCU in the "NIT" of volleyball. That game irked me. TCU won in five sets after an unimaginable purple-requested stoppages of play to wipe the floor anytime UNT got momentum and the building got loud.
