Colin Powell placed truth higher than politics.

I was with a group of people talking with Secretary Powell the very moment that the OJ verdict was announced. He didn't say anything, just gritted his teeth and slowly shook his head sided to side, obviously disappointed by the victory for racism.

Much to my chagrin he never ran for President. He was disliked by the extremes on both the left and on the right, but I believed would have done an excellent job representing the moderate people from both parties.

RIP General, You left an excellent legacy.
