What are the chances were reaching out to the MWC?

With Smatresk chairing the BOD what are the chances we are pushing for the MWC behind the scenes?

100% that we have made overtures. Who knows what the results will be or if they would be our choice over the AAC if we had the option .

100%. We allegedly were very far along in talks with MWC, and were pegged by a lot of people to join once AF and CSU left. I don't think that Smatresk being on the board is indicative of anything.

I think it’s pretty obvious that the MWC keeping those four teams was great for them, but they just seem content with staying out of TX unless it’s someone bigger and better than what’s available. Sucks for us, but also seems par for the course.

Maybe Smatresk knows that his only hope of conference improvement now Lies with the idea of getting everyone realigned. The AAC ain’t doing that, but the SBC just might…and that’s the best we can get at this point in time. Football sucking for most of our lifetimes keeps us playing in the leagues we are in, and unfortunately, most years, we are just flat out uncompetitive. In CUSA, since 2013, we have had three good teams here, while rolling out bad teams in 2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, and this year. I don’t count 2015 as bad because that would be too kind, as we finished as the worst FBS team that season. And in our SBC days, after those first four years, from 2005-2012, we had one season where we won 5 games, one season with 4 wins, and the rest were 3 wins and under.

Until we give anyone in the CFB world reason to see us any differently—like string wins together over several seasons against teams people have heard of care about—it’s gonna be the same as it always is.
