So easy to poke holes in ideas and offer nothing up. I learned something being involved in a mass shooting and that is that responding and managing an event of this nature is really easy from far away.
No no....you need to issue the standard "we have to do something!" then shrug your shoulders.
"thoughts and prayers" on one side = "we have to do something" on the other side...and both sides see the other side as stupid
So now what?
My dude when you call Dems like Beto socialists there's just no taking you seriously. He's married to a billionaire heiress. He's kind of a tool, he simply showed a little bit of balls yesterday. Something a lot of people left of center have been begging Dems to do over the last 20 years.
And yeah, I can distinguish Republican politicians from fiction as well: Reagan was not a bad guy because of any bad guy he played in Hollywood. Schwarzenegger is not actually a terminator.
Can you honestly say that if Trump, or another high profile conservatives had written the same thing you and the socialist Dems would not have been all over it? Love it when the socialist left justifies everything for those who they support. Always taking jabs at others to imply how they are not as wise as you. Guess you do what you have to to maintain you superiority complex.
Spending that money in Iraq and Afghanistan was a mistake. The narrative at the time was that we were protecting them from terrorist organizations. Will the narrative regarding Ukraine change in 20 years? Time will tell. Regardless, just because we spent all that money then (which was a mistake), doesn't mean we should head down the same path now. You don't get out of debt by spending more elsewhere. Gotta pay the bills at home first. Same applies to the PPP and other stuff you mentioned.
Regarding the fire or other shooter situations, well, in case of a fire the doors can be... wait for it... unlocked. Just like when school lets out for the day, they unlock the doors. Magical. During school hours, the inside is secure.
And regarding the officers allegedly not going in for 40 minutes. I'm not saying that didn't happen so don't look at "allegedly" and assume I'm calling that a lie. I'm just saying allegedly because every time a major story comes out regarding anything ever, the final facts end up being different than the initial reports. That said, what it looks like is an off-duty border patrol agent is the one who went in. Also law enforcement but built a little different since they work the border. They're used to conflict. The problem with many small town police agencies is they don't go through rigorous training such as reality based training and active shooter scenarios. They're simply mentally unprepared. For every situation you can point out like this where an officer failed, there's a situation where they prevented something big but they aren't reported on because tragedy was avoided. I know of some personally. That said, the officers here failed those kids. And you're right, maybe more SROs wouldn't help. Those officers are in schools, often thinking they're going to a safe position where they won't have to do much and they disengage from the reality that something like that could happen. They're simply not mentally prepared to fight for lives so maybe that's not the solution.
That said, if we as a country are going to find solutions to our problems, let try responding with a little less sarcasm and "oh boys" and "here we goes." Less fighting, more conversing. And yes, I'm guilty of this too.
