Can we afford to bring Graham Harrell back as Offensive Coordinator?

I say this as one of the people who didn't want him to leave, but I'm not sure we really want Harrell back right now. I believe he would do better here than he's doing at USC, if only for the recruiting and all the family ties in the state, but they aren't exactly enamored with him at USC right now. There's a lot of grousing about the raise they gave him to keep him from bolting, not unlike what we're saying here about Littrell.

If you pay attention to USC, what they're saying about his offense is it gets a bunch of yards but bogs down/fails in the red zone and in short-yardage situations.

Our next coach needs to be a winner from somewhere that looks at UNT and Denton with pure excitement from where they are currently. The coaches at Sam Houston or SFA both come to mind. Guys who know how to win and coach up kids--I don't want a retread like McCarney or a Power school coordinator who has never seen anything but great support and money, like Littrell. I want a coach who wants to continue moving up the totem pole.

This place is different--it just is for so very many reasons. A coach from a power school, whether a retread or a coordinator,  isn't gonna understand why football isn't a stopdown amongst the students and alumni. He isn't going to get how a school our size has a football stadium, while beautiful, that is so small. But if you can win big at Huntsville, maybe Denton seems amazing to you and your career. That's what I would recommend. Not another high school coach, either...which has to be said here apparently, since we hired two of them in the last 30 years.
