Carlos Ortiz fires a -6 (64) in the opening round. He is tied for second with three others 2 shots behind Harrison English. Munoz is not in the field.

Great opening round for Carlos. Small field (66 golfers) in a tourney with a great purse. Makes me think that there is no cut. Not sure though.

I think you are right. I don't think the WGC events have a cutline.

A very “North Texas” way to start. Of course he’s managed to battle back quite a bit in this round with two birdies and an 🦅 since.

Finished at -1 for the day, -7 overall, and in a tie for 11th place. He hit his tee shot on two par threes into the water which didn't help. He is six strokes out of the lead. If he can go low on the weekend he will have a shot.

Well he's slid a good bit the last few days. Is currently tied for 37th...and will probably finish around that.

The good news...it's a good paying tourney. And even at around that spot....should pay over $50k (if the payouts are similar to last year).

A great year....he and Sebastian will be in the Fedex playoffs in a few weeks. And the higher you are in Fedex points....the more of those tourneys that you automatically qualify for.
