What would winning an NCAA game mean for NT?

Recommended Posts

We'd likely be the toast of the country for at least a couple of days.  We'd probably get more press than we have in decades.  Anytime a low seed pulls an upset, the media pumps out a ton of stories on them.  Thirteens win roughly 20.5% of the time in the Round of 64, so it's not super common, but it's also not rare like 14-16 wins.

In other words, if we won as a 13, we might be THE Cinderella of the tournament.

It needs to lead to improved recruiting, especially at the high school level. Rubin Jones, Abou Ousmane, Mykell Robinson, and incoming Matthew Stone are all really solid recruits, but things could be better overall. The last time we were in the tournament we followed that season up with signing:

- Tony Mitchell: program’s one and only 5-star

- Jordan Williams: 109th ranked player in the nation, offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia, K-State, Marquette, OK State, Oregon, Texas Tech among others

- Chris Jones: offers from Colorado, New Mexico, Houston, SMU, TCU among others

- Forrest Robinson: offers from Arkansas, Houston, Iowa State, OK State, SMU, Texas Tech, USC, and Utah among others

The truth is our depth is lacking because a lot of the high school recruits we signed in the first 2-3 classes either are no longer here or can’t get on the court consistently. We have to capitalize on this success by raising our profile in recruiting and putting together a more complete roster.

JUCO recruiting has been good, let’s take it to the next step in HS recruiting and also with D1 transfers, now that we have showed them this is a good place to showcase your skills and play meaningful games in March.
