Recruiting Trend To Monitor

A lot of our offers going out right now are starting to go to 2023 kids. Mainly due to to the extra COVID year, on our roster we only have 6 scholarship seniors.

We likely won’t have a lot of scholarships available to honor in the 2022 class, especially if the guys we fill our roster with end up being multi-year guys (non-seniors).

The 2021 HS class got screwed, both because of the guys ahead of them getting an extra COVID year, because of the immediate eligibility transfer rule, and because the class limit is still 25 with those transfers counting towards that cap. For similar reasons, the 2022 class is getting squeezed, and I would expect those offers to roll out slowly and very judiciously.

Between this and the whirlwind world of transfers it is going to get harder for many HS athletes to get D1 offers.  This could help G5 schools get HS kids they might not normally get, but it could also lead to HS kids using G5 and FCS schools as a place to spend a season or two before transfering like the O-lineman from Charlotte this year planned and did when he transferred to Arkansas. Interesting times ahead.

I think we benefit being a tweener. We can get better HS talent, but like Ruder we are a great option for transfers that want to play especially having multiple seasons available. Are the JC’s going to get killed?

Think JC's will be ok since grades will unfortunately always be an issue.

I’m looking at it more of when they become available to graduate or transfer out. Would you rather have a guy that spent 2 years at Navarro JC or Texas? Big plus with the P5’s after 2-3 years is they should be physically developed.
