The "Mean Green Nation" as a whole had pre-mature gloat. When you start pushing one of your players for the Heisman you better have most of your pieces in place. When you bomb as bad as NT did...this is the respect you get.

I have no idea why you cite a Heisman champaign has a rationale for anything.   Winning only 4 games is why NT is ranked so low, plus not having a proven QB.

I guess if NT ever has another national honor candidate that you would prefer NT not push him for any rewards because it might backfire.

NT plays in CUSA, it is entirely possible that they will again challenge for a league championship this year if there is a season.

It was the hype that NT was pushing nationally and most everyone bought into it..hence the Pre-mature Gloat. I believe if you go back, on this board it was brought up multiple times our questionable offensive and defensive lines. Perhaps if we had won our conference and won our bowl that previous year that hype might have been warranted.

I have no problem with the AD and his department pushing recognition of our student athletes. Last season was a bust after all that preseason hype and IMO why we are ranked where we are.

So a player decides to sit out, or a team does not play this season.  Everyone gets a extra year.  What happens with the People who have signed letters of intent.   Teams are limited on the number of scholarships.

I wonder if that would actually help getting better players for teams that do play this year.  If those schools that chose not to play this year all get an extra year of eligibility, then it seems that they can't bring in any extra scholarship players.  That seems to give the advantage to those that do play, no?
