Random Conference Thought

In the unlike event of a conference change for UNT, I was wondering how strong is East Carolina of the AAC?  Nice stadium, but that's all you hear about EC.  Are they even a factor in the AAC?

What if the American Athletic Conference kicks EC to the curb, move Navy from the Western Div to the East Div where they belong; add North Texas to the Western Div of the AAC?  Boom!  Problem solved.

Next problem, please.

Reading the AAC board they seem more likely to throw out Tulsa. Tulsa has been in the red  (that is the University not just athletics) for the last 7 years, Despite their endowment of over 1 Billion they are not in good financial shape.

And the oil industry reeling right now is certainly not helping them.

Yeah, ECU managed to start to rival Southern Mississippi for dumbest firing of all time when they let Ruffin McNeil go and as a result they have stunk for a couple of years.  (Not as bad a firing as Bower, but up there)  Still, there looks like there might be a light at the end of the tunnel for them.

That being said, you're right in that Navy should be in the East and, hey, there's a spot open right now - just go 13-0 and win a NY6 Bowl and you'd be surprised how many people would start to pressure SMU/UH to let UNT in, especially after showing signs of life in basketball.

Seize the Day.....

Pretty lofty set of goals for NT...and don't depend on Houston to help with blocking.

Not gonna happen. C-USA is our home and likely will be for several more years.

This.

Until TV doesn't dictate conference affiliation (i.e., tv markets), we will be a SBCUSA member for a long time ahead. Only possibility is if the MWC added Texas markets, which is not likely until the Big XII falls apart.
