One of the Von Erichs (Adkisson) played football and basketball.  Rarely got in a basketball game but dressed out. In my opinion, several others, over the years, had the talent for hoops and football.

As an "old timer", I have to mention Crest Whitaker (NTxAHOF '94).  All-MVC in basketball and won the MVC in triple jump.

Enjoyed watching him play basketball at NT back in the day.  We played some good basketball, but played in one of the best basketball conferences in the country at the time, the Missouri Valley Conference. Tough league.

Whitaker in addition to being a track and basketball star at NT played a year in the NFL.

Mike Guon played basketball and was part of the track team in late seventies.

Mike Minter starting defensive linemen, was also high level track star in the shot

In the older days before football became a year long event, it was very common for college football players to also participate in track

Stanley Blackman became a football player only after his basketball eligibility was over and became a very good tight end.

Don't forget Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was a mediocre linebacker for NT under his real name; Steve Williams.
