Just reaching, but could the lack of replacements for the OC and OL/DL at this point in time have anything to do with this?

It is likely indeed a reach. On the other hand there appears to be a whole number of us who had that thought cross our minds.

He was mentioned before when Rhule almost left. I wouldn't put it past them to try to get another contract extension out of this at the least, and get the Baylor job at the most.

After a 4-8 season during the Senior year of the greatest QB our school has ever had, we CANNOT give Littrell another extension/raise... those need to be earned.   He earned his first 3 extensions.   He did not earn one this year.  Win another 9+ games again next year, and extend him again!

If Seth chooses to interview, fine. But I really hope he keeps it so far off the radar no one knows.

Knowing that his brand is a little down right now and that he needs to win at NT before he'll get serious consideration for these jobs, it would be best for him to keep any interviews he may have on the downlow.

I agree with you but his agent would certainly dangle the carrot. A lot went wrong this season and their AD potentially could give him a pass on this season based on his body of work. He has seen what Mason Fine can do on a Seth-coached team and I’d imagine they are chomping at the bit to see what Charlie Brewer could do.

Blake Anderson would be fantastic down in Waco, but I would not mind seeing SL get the job either and move on.

Baylor ain’t hiring SL...his brand is tarnished after the awful season we just had. People want to see if he can bounce back with new coordinators and a new QB, with a MUCH tougher schedule. SL is ours for a few more years...

2018 FAU picked to win conf...goes 5/7 now where is Lane? Seth has a winning record in 2020 he will be hot again!

Well Lane won the conference and their bowl game convincingly... He earned it.  If Seth does the same thing in 2020.  He will have earned it and I will thank him for what hes done.

Count me skeptical, make that very skeptical, that that will happen. SL's teams here have run up some pretty impressive passing statistics, but his teams have yet to win one conference championship, and they have yet to win a bowl game. In fact, his best bowl performance (vs Army) was an overtime loss at the end of one of his worst years. Since then we have been curb-stomped in conference championship and bowl games, And obviously none of those teams were impressed with our smoke-and-mirrors statistics.

I'm with you here. The schedule this upcoming year is not the way to introduce a new QB, two new coordinators, and still little signs that our lines look much better than this past year.

SL's best chance to rebuild his reputation probably comes in 2021, when these recruiting classes he's recently signed have the chance to develop and become difference-makers. 2020 is going to be all about developing a QB and experience with these new coordinators. I don't see us being real competitive at all against the FBS OOC opponents, nor the CUSA West teams outside of Texas. I figure we are competitive still with the Texas CUSA teams and hopefully the CUSA East teams, so adding in a win over the FCS spare, that should get us to 4-8 or 5-7 next year. Anything better than this will be a great sign for us as move into 2021 and beyond. I still bet SL is here for at least 2 more seasons, probably even more. He's going to have to win 9+ games in a season again, but actually win a conference championship or bowl with it, before any P5 will come sniffing again after him. Hell, that might be the only way a team in the AAC or MWC would even be interested in him down the road. His fast track to a P5 gig got derailed pretty badly in 2019.

Next year may turn out to be a nice season since Bean/Aune/whoever will be thrown to the wolves during non-conference and although we may only be 1-3 afterward, we should be battle-tested for the same-old conference slate.   A C-USA championship is there on the table for us.
Louisiana Tech is replacing their QB and both coordinators as well.

You are much more generous than me. "Down the corridor of years"  I've observed that if a coach is going to "turn things around", they will do so in the first two or three years. For example(s)

Hayden had Iowa in the Rose Bowl within three years of taking over as Head Coach. Iowa's last appearance before that was 1959.

Even Corkey Nelson had us winning a SLC conference championship in his second year 1983.

As I said above, I am very skeptical of SL turning things around.

Frankly, I’ll agree. I fear we have seen the best he could do as a head coach here. Hoping that’s not right, but I can rather easily see him here for 2-3 more years and never getting back to a 9-win season.
