Reeder and Reffett Fired

Recommended Posts

Love it. I was afraid he would be here at-least another year!  I bet we spend some $$$ on co ordinators!

Kinda surprised on this one. I was not a Reeder fan, but I thought first year FBS jitters would get him a pass.

Wonder if he was released by us or opted to go. He's virtually guaranteed a spot int he FCS circle

"Renfo cited his relationship with UNT offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder and how he would fit in UNT’s offense under coach Seth Littrell for his decision to commit to the Mean Green."  from the DRC, Brett Vito

Seems like Renfo knew last week...

something seemed off all year...

We didn't run the offense Reeder ran before...

Don't know why. Pure speculation on my part, but it sure seemed to be a dysfunctional match: Littrell and Reeder.

Our offense was never locked in this year

I thought for sure the hammer would drop on Reffett first.  I didn't expect this for Reeder since it was only his first year and he was a late season hire.  But I like the aggressiveness and that it seems like they aren't playing around.

@ipd054 great find.  I think you are spot on with this.  He knew.

Reeder in hindsight was a TERRIBLE hire.

It makes sense for our potentially next 4 year starter build the right relationship from the front with a good coordinator.  Reeder might have been good and just had a weird chemistry with Mason.  We won't ever know.  You can't have that talent and only coach him to 4 wins.  Man, chemistry is fickle.  I see a young up and comer joining Seth's team to lead this vital side of the ball.  It is after all the face of Mean Green football.  This will be good for Seth too.  He needs freshness on the staff like the players do.  I saw a lot of happy faces on the sideline this Saturday.  The coaching staff was having to get them riled up to match UAB's emotion on the other sideline.  They immediately went from having socializing having fun to being back dialed into the game.  Strange.  We almost derailed the West Champs.

Hell yeah, great news. He will land on feet again at the FCS level. We need to make a splash hire, or just let Littrell call plays next year.

It doesn't take 'knowing' to see that life under that OC would be terrible. Even with the 'relationship.'

Renfro knew we were a dog this year. We are not reloading - we are rebuilding. He can go elsewhere and have a easier time with it.

He wouldn’t be starting here for several years at best anyway, so a rebuilding year or 2 wouldn’t affect him.
