Another Wear Your Gear Story

We board the plane earlier today in New York for the flight to Dallas.  We start getting the creeping delay notices from the captain due to a maintenance issue. After stirring for an hour and a half I stand up to stretch my legs.  The guy sitting behind me sees my North Texas pull-over and asks if I follow the team.  I show him my North Texas phone case and my Norrh Texas hat and confirm that, yep, I follow the team (a bit...hahaha).

He proceeds to tell me that his niece is married to the running backs coach and asks if I know him.  Hello!  I tell him everyone knows Patrick Cobbs   

We chat for about twenty minutes and I show him some photos I had with Patrick at one of our tail gates.  Maintenance finally finishes and we take our seats for takeoff.  Anyway, you never know who you are going to run into (or where) when you wear your gear.

On my flight to Prague this month, a lady saw my Mean Green luggage tag. She asked if I went to school there and proceeded to tell me that she went to Arkansas. Her son was friends with Keegan Brewer and they were happy for the success he had against Arkansas.

After the Rice game last weekend, a buddy and me went to drown our sorrows at The Ginger Man in Rice Village (very very much like the Ginger Man in uptown Dallas).  The guy checking IDs at the door saw the diving eagle on my hoodie and wanted to talk North Texas.  He was an alum and had a lot of questions about the UNT law school.  From the path he took the convo, I'm assuming he was maybe an owner rather than some hourly guy just checking IDs.

We sure seem to have a lot of alumni down in Houston.  I'm glad the Houston chapter of the Alumni Association is building momentum.  Great to meet @Stix while I was down there (and saw him again at the pavilion today).
