Hamilton selected for East-West Shrine game

Congratulations to him.

Quite the honor for someone who is only 10th in tackles on the team..

He’s leading with 7 sacks but he’s 3rd in tackles for a loss.

If you read this board regularly you’d think we didn’t have any players on this defense at all.

You need to understand Brent Venables and Nick Saban better.  For DLs, it’s not tackles - it’s whether or not they disrupt the timing of the offense, thus allowing speedy, athletic linebackers and DBs to make plays.  

UNT’s 2019 problem was a sore lack of speedy, athletic playmakers at LB and DB. Hamilton was fine.

The 2020 Mean Green must find better LBs and DBs; or, trust that a lost season of mistakes will equal good experience for young players.

I say look or a JUCO or two at those positions.  Championships are won by defenses.  We need more playmakers on the backside to justify the good play of lunch pail DLs like Hamilton to win championships.

It also helps to have a 2nd string that is getting drafted!

If that’s the case it’s an even bigger honor because there certainly wasn’t much of that going on..
