On a related note, Charlotte is 4&5 with Marshall, UTEP and ODU left to play. Both UTEP and ODU have won a single game this season against 1AA opponents. The 49ers should be bowl eligible with a 6&6 record, as will W.K.If we beat Rice and UAB we also will be 6&6, and CUSA will have by my count 8 bowl eligible teams, three of which have only 6 wins. [yes, I counted La. Tech as a loss].Their may be two many pigs and not enough teats for 6 win CUSA teams.

Then it's up to the bowl games to invite who they like better.    And who do you think the bowls would like to see?   I would be willing to throw a ton of money on the active FBS leader in pass yards & TDs.

Well we have to get bowl eligible to find out, but you are probably right, though I don't know about "throwing a ton of money ".

I believe we will get to 6 wins at the expense of UAB's 2nd-half nosedive.  And if Frisco, Birmingham, Hawaii, NM (heck, why not exercise some demons?), or even Indy (who took a 6-6 SoMiss a few years ago) are all looking at UNT, FIU, WKU, UAB, & Charlotte in the 7&5 / 6&6 cluster, which team looks more appealing?   Birmingham may prefer UAB, obviously, but I think NT would be the team all of those bowls would prefer, mainly due to Fine.

Maybe we'll get some help from UAB this weekend, and hopefully beat them in a few weeks.  GMG

UAB at Southern Miss, 3:30 p.m. ET (Southern Miss -6.5)

The timing of Southern Miss' offensive slump is a major problem, and shaking it against UAB will be tough. The Blazers allow just 5.8 yards per pass attempt, and USM quarterback Jack Abraham's two most recent outings were his worst of the season.

Prediction: UAB 31, Southern Miss 24

We have a better chance of beating La Tech than UAB does of beating USM.  UAB is not good, as their wins have come against teams with a combined 9-42 record.

The last few weeks of the season should flush all this out....

(sure wish we wouldn't have melted down at Charlotte...)

This is our #newdenton future... and you better like it! 😢

#newdenton #olddenton it doesn’t matter. The annual kick to the nuts is part of being a lifelong NT fan!
